Carson City Serves Up Downtown Fun Almost Daily
Get Down! The business community and citizens of Carson City have formed the Downtown Consortium in partnership with the Redevelopment Authority to revitalize Carson City's downtown core. To start, the consortium has planned events for the rest of summer into fall. Here is some of what's happening:
Alive at 5, Monday - Friday, 5 - 7 p.m., Downtown Restaurants.
Fridays @ 3rd Street, 7 - 11:30 p.m., 3rd Street: free street party, live music, food and drinks.

Get Sticky Fingers at Nugget Rib Cookoff
Grab your bib and join more than 500,000 hungry barbecue enthusiasts at the 20th annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off, August 27 through September 1, at John Ascuaga's Nugget on Victorian Square in Sparks, Nev. Packed into multiple city blocks, some of the finest rib chefs stake their national reputations and vie for bragging rights in what many of the cookers call the "world series" of outdoor barbeque. Bravo TV's "Top Chef" Winner to Cook at Tahoe Food Festival
Chef and restaurateur Stephanie Izard, the winner of the fourth season of Bravo TV's "Top Chef," recently signed on to host a cooking seminar at the 23rd Annual Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine Festival, scheduled for September 5 - 7 in the outdoors at the new Village at Northstar™.
In addition to her "Top Chef" honor, Izard, 31, took home Bravo TV's Fan Favorite Award. She is also the first woman to win the competition. Lake Tahoe was recently recognized as the #1 U.S. travel destination by TripAdvisor for 2008 (#10 in the world), and the #1 destination by Orbitz users for winter 2007-2008. Downtown Reno
Head to Downtown Reno for rockin' entertainment this August! One of music's most interesting and prolific artists, The Steve Miller Band brings their hits "Joker," "Fly Like An Eagle" "Jungle Love" and more to the Reno Events Center August 16. Nevada's Adventure Landscape Stars in "Nevada Passage" Competition
The 2008 "Land Rover G4 Challenge: Nevada Passage" airs nationwide beginning in August. So far more than 20 cities from Spokane, Washington to Tampa, Florida have picked up the syndicated adventure program. This is the 4th annual Nevada Passage program, and this year Land Rover came aboard with its biennial G4 Challenge. The Land Rover corporation worldwide holds national G4 Challenges, and the winners of those challenges go on to the international G4 Challenge in England. The winners of the 2008 Nevada Passage will be on their way to Europe next year to compete against the winners from 17 other countries.
