More Options for Travelers
2007 has been a banner year for air travelers to
the Reno-Tahoe International Airport
thanks to nine new nonstop flights and seven new
destinations the airport now offers 182 flights
per day to and from 23 nonstop cities. Business
and leisure travelers are enjoying more nonstop
flight options into Reno-Tahoe with daily flights
from Chicago-Midway and San Diego on Southwest Airlines.
Regional service provider ExpressJet
is now boarding daily nonstop flights from Spokane,
Washington, Tucson, Arizona and California's Long
Beach and Ontario airports. And travelers from Bellingham,
Washington can hop on one of Allegiant Air's

Reno-Tahoe Shares the Spirit of the Season
Celebrate the Holidays in Northern Nevada
December is a time for celebration all over region
with communities coming together to mark the holiday
season and show off the spirit of their cities and towns.
Christmas on the Comstock in historic Virginia City is
an enchanting, month-long celebration that lasts through
December. Shops are decorated in Victorian splendor and
the delicious warm drinks served by many of the shops,
saloons and restaurants accent the cool winter air.
There is a window-decorating contest and awards are given
to the store with the most innovative and dazzling front
window. Original oil lamps from the 1800s are lit and line
the streets to add a touch of nostalgia. It's a celebration
worth experiencing for the holiday season. Events are scheduled
through December in the Carson Valley, Reno, Sparks, Carson City
and Fallon, including parades, concerts, shows, decorating
contests and craft fairs. The month is capped with celebrations

Community Holiday Tree & Menorah Lighting
Join Santa, Mrs. Claus and their elves for the Annual Community
Holiday Celebration in South Lake Tahoe December 7 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Enjoy hot chocolate and cookies inside the Visitors Center.
Lake DJ will
provide the holiday music, Borges Family Sleigh and Carriage Rides
will provide complimentary sleigh rides and The Blue Ribbon
Choir will be caroling. Authentic home-made tamales will be
available for purchase. The event is sponsored by the

Christmas in Carson Features Victorian Homes & the Santa Train
Steal a page from "It's a Wonderful Life" for a traditional
Christmas celebration through downtown Carson City during the
Victorian Home Christmas Tour. The self-guided tour features
nine Victorian Homes decked out in their holiday finest. Carson
City features the Kit Carson Trail, a 2.5-mile tour through the
area's historic district. Homes are 100-140 years old and will
have costumed characters to describe the rich history of each.
Expect ornate settings, bubble lights, treetop angels, tinsel,
garland and old-fashioned delights. Tours are Sunday, December
9 from noon to 5 p.m. Each ticket shows a map to the open houses.
Tickets are $20 adults; $15 seniors and students; and $6 for children

with Santa Claus December 15 and 16 at the Nevada State Railroad Museum.

"Monkey King" to Premiere at Harrah's Reno
A legendary Chinese story comes to life in Sammy's Showroom inside
Harrah's Reno this December. "Monkey King Creates Havoc in Heaven"
is making its first appearance in North America with its premiere
performance in Reno. This show, presented by the Beijing Shaolin
Martial Arts School, combines unforgettable feats of Kung Fu,
acrobatics and magic as it traces the escapades of the storied Monkey King.
You'll have to see it to believe it! "Monkey King Creates Havoc in Heaven"
takes center stage at Harrah's Reno December 12 – 16. Show time is
8 p.m. nightly, except Saturday, December 15 when show times are 7 and

Big Time Adventure on the Big Screen
Catch South Shore's 5th Annual Tahoe Adventure Film Festival with
never been seen before action and adventure film clips from around
the world — everything from BASE jumping, skiing, tow in big
wave surfing, and deep water soloing — no gear, no ropes,
climbing rocks over water. The fast paced format will show the best
ten minutes from the best films of the year along with a special
dedication to Kirkwood's 35 seasons on December 15 at 7 p.m. at the
MontBleu Theatre.

North Lake Tahoe Ski Resorts are Open for Business
Consistently cold temperatures over the last few weeks had North Lake
Tahoe ski resorts making snow around the clock. Northstar-at-Tahoe™
opened November 23 with early season conditions and lift tickets for just

Ski BASE Jumps Ramp Up Reno-Tahoe's Adventure Quotient
Four extreme skiers launched into the record books Saturday, November 17
in Downtown Reno officially kicking off the upcoming Reno-Tahoe ski season.
Skiing icon, Shane McConkey and three others, completed the first-ever ski
BASE jump from the top of the Silver Legacy Resort Casino. A crowd of
approximately 1,000 spectators watched from the streets as McConkey skied
off the roof of the 38-story hotel casino. Using a custom-built ramp packed
with 6,700 pounds of shaved ice, McConkey was launched into an aerial 360 then
quickly released his chute to successfully accomplish this feat. A team of
