North Lake Tahoe Hosts Fabulous Fall Celebration
Though summer memories have given way to textbooks and lunchboxes, the festivities and activities are still bountiful in the Sierra Nevada with the Fabulous Fall Celebration. The unique celebration is a cornucopia of events from Labor Day through Thanksgiving with harvest festivals, Halloween celebrations, dining, music, nature events and recreational activities and competitions. Highlights include the 23rd Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine Festival September 5 – 7, Oktoberfest at the Village at Squaw Valley USA September 27, the 20th Annual Chocolate and Wine Festival October 11 and the Tahoe City Harvest Festival October 11 – 18. Balloons, Airplanes, Motorcycles and Scheels Dominate Reno-Tahoe in September
Reno-Tahoe, America’s Adventure Place, and the region celebrates marquee special events and the opening of the nation’s largest destination sporting goods outfitter, Scheels All Sports in Sparks. The Great Reno Balloon Race, September 5 – 7 at Rancho San Rafael Park, has blossomed into one of the country’s premier events for balloon enthusiasts. White-knuckle adventure returns to Reno during the National Championship Air Races, September 10 – 14, showcasing some of the world’s best pilots taking on a grueling course at daredevil speeds. September 24 – 28 get your motor running for Street Vibrations, one of the nation’s premier motorcycle rallies. A Variety of Fall Festivities to Take Place at Northstar Resort

Squaw Valley USA’s September Activities and Events Abound
Join us at Squaw Valley USA this autumn for fabulous fall fun. The scenic Cable Car will be open daily from 9:40 a.m. to 4 p.m. through September 14. Guests can enjoy the changing color of the trees while they explore Squaw’s upper mountain hiking trails. Up at the top of the Cable Car, Squaw offers mountaintop dining, roller skating, swimming and shopping-all at High Camp, elevation 8200’. Carson City Offers a True Basque Experience
The Carson City Basque "picnic" celebrates Northern Nevada's rich Basque heritage with dancing, singing, contests and most importantly food, September 21 in Fuji Park. Lunch includes mahogany grilled lamb, turkey and chicken, beans from Carson Valley's three Basque dinner houses and a mouth watering lamb stew. The Zenbat Gara, University of Nevada's Basque dancers; bertsolari, verse singer; Sandy Moore’s dog herding demonstrations; and wood-chopping contest will entertain picnickers from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

- The Taste of Downtown is each June when restaurants take to the street and offer signature tastes of their cuisine combined with live music.
- Oktoberfest serves up brats, brews, desserts and more in the Pony Express Pavilion each October.
- The Nevada Day Chili Feed, kicking off in late October, allows voters to hold court with elected officials during the annual chili feed at the Carson Nugget.

The Eldorado Showroom presents Aphelion - Cirque Style Extravaganza through November 14. This breathtaking show features a cast of award-winning aerialists, contortionists, acrobats and dancers. Reno Chamber Orchestra Gives World Premiere of Joseph Schwantner’s “Chasing Light…”
The Reno Chamber Orchestra presents the world premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Joseph Schwantner’s “Chasing Light…” September 20 – 21 at the University of Nevada’s Nightingale Concert Hall. Commissioned by Ford Made in America, a partnership program of the League of American Orchestras, Meet the Composer and the participating orchestras, “Chasing Light…” will be performed by 58 orchestras in all 50 states. General Admission tickets are $40, seniors (65+) are $35, students are $15 and those 18 years old and younger are free.
