For a complete adventure in the true West, visitors can follow in the footsteps of the explorer known for mapping the West, Kit Carson, along the 2.5-mile path that bears his name. Meandering through Carson City, the state's capital, modern explorers tour 1800s-era Victorian homes, museums and churches. The state's capital provides a glimpse of history year round, with special events and the one and only Nevada Day Parade and celebration.
A visit to Virginia City, just a short drive from Reno, is a step back in time to the good ol' days of the historic Comstock Lode. Or visit some of our regions other historical landmarks from the Thunderbird Lodge at Lake Tahoe to the famous Donner State Park and Memorial.
